Our Story
Mercury Medical Recruitment began in Wellington in 1990, originally as an IT recruitment firm. For 13 years, we placed staff into projects that have now become integral to New Zealand’s foundation. Amongst others the NCEA system, the IRD system, and the country’s mobile network.
While the business was thriving, our founder, Vinod Govind and the team wanted to make a more profound impact. Recognising the critical shortage of medical staff and the growing patient wait times, they saw an opportunity to apply their proven recruitment strategies to the healthcare sector.
This shift gave rise to Mercury Medical Recruitment. We have since placed thousands of international and local healthcare professionals in permanent and locum positions. The roles we have filled include General Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Radiologists, Orthopaedic Surgeons, General Surgeons, General Physicians, Cardiologists, and other specialists, and allied health staff, across New Zealand and Australia. By focusing on a people-first approach, we’ve helped Primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare providers. That has enabled them to offer better patient care while supporting medical professionals in building meaningful careers.
